Re: Funny things your kids have said...
So funny!
Ok, during math one day: Me: Ok, these problems will be easy - they really just rely upon your common sense.
Luisa: Oh NO! I don't have any of that!
And for those of you who might not be sure - she is dead serious.
Always,

Ha! That is great. Today I heard another one from my daughter, who is seven. I overheard her say to her brother, "Sorry, I had to be hasty." The vocabulary words they choose sometimes cracks me up!

That's adorable! I think it is just precious to hear a child speak with the clear evidence of their reading showing up in their words. In earlier years when my girls were still learning English there were lots of cute examples. Like one afternoon my husband suggested we go out for ice-cream and my youngest happily responded, "Oh yes! Shall we?"

Re: Funny things your kids have said...
Via chat with my oldest while online yesterday:
me: Just finished Editor In Chief with the girls - hysterical!
Quentin: how so?
3:55 PM me: Oh, in addition to all the editing we do with each selection, they often have a lot to say about the piece itself.
3:57 PM This one was about a guy, Carlos Moore, an asst. mgr. of a fast food restaurant. It told about his spending habits and hopes to buy a car. The girls were all full of sassy instruction for how Carlos ought to be saving more for college and spending less on out to eat.
After a while I just started laughing, wishing I had this all on tape.
3:58 PM At the end, as they ripped Carlos up for not being in college and only saving a bit for it, I told them not everyone can simply head off for college after high school.
Really? they replied.
Yes, perhaps especially not people with names like "Carlos".
Oh, all the cries then for "poor Carlos!"
They crack me up!

Re: Funny things your kids have said...
Ok, one more.
Luisa (while working on Vocabulary From Classical Roots): Did you know that some people believe that punishment retards learning?
Me: Hmmmm
Quiet at the table, and then
Angelina: Well, they've got that wrong.
